The story of Gabrielskloof started in 2001 as the dream of South African Bernhard Heyns. Who, after a long search for his unique piece of land, finally came across the 'Avontuur Farm', an old rapeseed farm. From there he built a philosophy for making high quality wines with local roots and integration in the local community. People from the neighborhood have been working at the wine estate from day one. In 2014 Peter-Allan, from the top domain Crystallum, joined the team as cellar master, providing an upward lift for the depth and quality in the wines. The wine estate is located in the Bot River Valley between the Houwhoek and Babylonstoren Mountains. The vineyards benefit from the cooling proximity to the ocean.
