Lequart Millésimé 2010Regular price €49,90
Powerful and complex blend of 50% meunier and 50% chardonnay. Aged 'sur lattes' for 72 months, with aging of the chardonnay base wine in oak barriques. What Lequart is doing here defies imagination: producing champagne from one vintage. Laurent told us that he follows the maturation very closely in some plots and that in 2010 he kept the best in a number of plots to produce this. Very daring, but we were totally blown away when we tasted this. Terroir, terroir and more terroir of the best that Champagne can offer us.
Complex aromas so broadly and elegantly intertwined and then a finale to blow your mind. Serve this in a Burgundy glass, so the bubbles will be less prominent, but the taste buds will be spoiled more than ever. Or as they say in the vernacular: "it's like an angel sitting on your tongue…" Cheers!
