Côte Rôtie is the northernmost appellation of the Rhône Valley and is known for its powerful wines based on syrah grapes. Yields are very low and young vines don't always have an easy time because of the 'Transmontana' wind coming from the Alps. The vineyards therefore need the highest care, with expertise and respect for the terroir, Rémi succeeds very well in this. This wine comes from two different vineyards that together cover only 1.8 hectares. The vines are on average 20 years old and give a lot of depth to the final wine. The wine mainly consists of syrah, with a small addition of viognier. After manual picking, the wine ages for no less than 3 weeks in thermoregulated barrels, followed by an aging of 15 months in wooden barrels, 20% of which are new. This deep red wine has scents of ripe blueberries, violet, cassis and a light pepper touch in the nose. When tasting, the taste buds are pampered with flavors of ripe forest fruits, licorice and well-present tannins, which are finely balanced. This wine can certainly be carafed in its youth and served in an elegant fine red wine glass. This wine deserves a refined kitchen with good company. Health!
