Château Khoury Perseïdes 2012
Regular price €36,90Perseïdes is the absolute jewel of the Château Khoury estate. During our visit to Zahlé, we had the privilege of tasting several vintages of this exceptional wine, and every sip immediately brought us to a state of bliss. The name Perseïdes refers to the shooting stars that are very visible from the Bekaa Valley every year around August 12th. The wine is mainly based on the Syrah grape, supplemented with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. After a carefully hand-harvested wine, the wine matures for 18 months in barrels: 40% in new oak barrels and 60% in second-year French Allier oak barrels.
Perseïdes is a powerhouse with phenomenal ageing potential. The nose reveals a wide range of aromas, ranging from red peppers and terroir expression to cassis and forest scents. On the palate the wine starts with a hint of ripe blueberries and cassis, then moves on to green pepper and powerful, but perfectly balanced tannins. With a production of only 2500 bottles per year, this wine is an exclusive favorite. Perseïdes is without a doubt one of the highlights from Lebanon, the country where Bacchus, the god of wine, has his temple.
Cheers!
