Domaine Tempier is one of the very best wine estates in Bandol, with a rich history dating back to 1834. In 1940 a revolution starts when Lucie Tempier marries Lucien Peyraud. This young couple starts with a completely new planting in 1943 and in the same year they produce their first rosé wine. Lucien was a member of the Bandol syndicate and is a big proponent of planting as much as possible mourvèdre, today “the grape” of the region. This makes Bandol one of the top appellations in the south of France for Mourvèdre. In the meantime, the domain is still family owned, but it is run as a modern company and according to current standards. The wines, on the other hand, retain their authenticity and unique character. This domain is definitely worth a visit. While we were there, we were able to taste very old red wines ourselves, which showed us the aging potential of this domain. This is without a doubt one of our favorites. health!
