Heerlyckheyt Roonen Bergh
On the southern slopes of the Rodeberg in Westouter, deep within the rolling landscape of Heuvelland, lies the wine estate Heerlyckheyt Roonen Bergh. This young estate was founded with the vision of crafting wines that express finesse, freshness, and purity, while honoring their origin.
The vineyards at Roonen Bergh enjoy a stunning location and a highly interesting microclimate. The vines are planted in a unique combination of loam and iron-rich sandstone—a soil that retains heat while providing excellent drainage. The proximity of the North Sea creates a tempered, cool-moderate climate, ideal for cultivating classic grape varieties such as chardonnay, auxerrois, pinot blanc, pinot noir, and sauvignon blanc.
The estate consciously chooses an artisanal approach with manual harvesting, careful selection of grape clusters, and vinification that highlights the pure character of the grape and soil. In the cellar, winemaking is done using stainless steel tanks, barriques, and méthode traditionnelle, depending on the style of the wine.
