Wine Caeira

Filter

Viña Caeira is a young wine estate in Rias Baixas, in the sub-region of Condado do Tea. Near the vineyards, the smaller 'Tea' river flows into the well-known 'Miño' river and provides a specific microclimate. Combined with the poorer soils than in the sub-regions 'O Rosal' and 'Soutomaior', the vines here have to work a little harder to obtain their nutrients. This results in stronger vines with greater resilience. The Albariño wines from this region are therefore a little softer and juicier in their fruit, still with the characteristic fresh acidity and salty expression thanks to the unique location near the Atlantic Ocean.

The wine estate was started in 2021, under the wings of the Matarromera winemaking family with its roots in Ribera del Duero. Because of this overarching force and knowledge, nothing is left to chance and exceptionally millimetre-long and pure wines are made of a magnificent quality level. Part of the vineyards are owned by the estate, while the other part of the grapes comes from traditional, local grape growers. The estate supports these growers and helps them to grow the highest quality grapes, which is also a nice social reinforcement of the region.
