Quinta do Vesúvio is one of the most legendary estates in the Douro Valley. Tucked away in the wild and unspoiled landscape of the Douro Superior, the estate is known for its stunning house, chapel and historic winery dating back to 1827. Today, it’s not only celebrated for its powerful Vintage Ports, but also for its still wines under the Douro DOC.

Within that range, the Comboio wines offer a more accessible and fresher expression of Douro. The name Comboio refers to the train that has stopped daily at Vesúvio’s own station since 1887. This railway line along the Douro River is deeply woven into the estate’s identity and history.

The Comboio do Vesúvio Red is a pure expression of Douro Superior, made without oak ageing. It shows vibrant dark fruit, wild herbs and a juicy, expressive profile. Made from hand-harvested touriga nacional, touriga franca and tinta roriz, the grapes are carefully sorted, destemmed and fermented with gentle extraction. The aim is a well-balanced red wine with aromatic precision and lively texture – perfect to enjoy in its youth, but with enough structure to age for a few years.
