Roonen Bergh chardonnay 2022
Regular price €21,80Roonen Bergh is a young wine estate located on the southern slopes of the Rodeberg in Westouter, in the heart of the Heuvelland Protected Designation of Origin (BOB).
The combination of iron-rich sandstone, loam, and the surrounding forest creates a unique microclimate that is ideal for cultivating classic grape varieties. Wines are made here with respect for nature, focusing on finesse, freshness, and a clear expression of terroir.
The Chardonnay vineyards of Roonen Bergh are situated on the sunny slopes of the Rodeberg in Westouter. The soil consists of a mix of iron-rich sandstone and loam. The sandstone retains warmth during hot periods, promoting even ripening of the grapes. The loamy soil holds moisture well, allows deep rooting, and provides sufficient nutrients, encouraging balance and depth in the vines.
The grapes are harvested manually and carefully selected. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by six months of ageing on the lees, which adds texture and complexity to the wine.
On the nose, aromas of white stone fruit, citrus and a subtle touch of orange zest. The palate is fresh, with a balanced tension between ripe fruit and vibrant acidity. The finish is refined, slightly mineral and elegantly dry.
