Raymond Usseglio Pure clairette 2018 Magnum

Domaine Raymond Usseglio shows with this wine that it can make a great wine from Châteauneuf from 100% Clairette grapes. This is one of the absolute highlights of what is produced in white wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This grape naturally has a low yield, the vines are partly planted on the northern flank with a sandy soil and partly on the southern flank, which has a soil of clay and loam with galets (round boulders typical of the region. The combination of terroirs gives we return a wine with a lot of depth and finesse. The great respect that the domain has for nature and the environment, partly by working biodynamically, gives nature back as a reward for our taste buds. During our visit we also tasted some older vintages of this, which therefore show the storage potential of this beautiful wine.

In the nose we have scents of acacia, linden and quince. When tasting, we have some zest of orange, herbs and ripe apricot at the start. This is a full-bodied white wine that is perfectly balanced with an elegant acidity in the final. The finish is long and makes us long for refined cuisine.
