Virna Borgogno Barbaresco 'Montersino' 2021
Regular price €49,80The ' Barolo del Comune di Barolo' is a blend of wines from some of the most famous crus of the Barolo municipality, and reflects the essence of this iconic wine region. This wine combines elegance with power, where the intensity of small red fruits, toast and earthy aromas come together in a refined way.
The Nebbiolo grapes come from vineyards of different Barolo crus, planted between 1970 and 1980, the vineyards are located at an altitude of 250-260 meters and have different exposures due to the blend of the different vineyards, which contributes to the complex taste and structure of the wine.
After traditional pressing and 10 days of maceration in barrels, the wine matures for 18 to 24 months in French tonneaux of 300-500 liters and large oak barrels. After maturation, the wine is further stored in stainless steel tanks and then bottled, where it matures horizontally for a few more months.
This Barolo has a deep colour and an intense nose of red fruit, with the complex scent of toast and forest floor and fresh red fruit. In the mouth it is round and compact, with noticeable tannin and a 'joyful' juiciness that gives the wine its depth and at the same time finesse. The powerful and well-integrated tannins make it a wine that can be enjoyed both now and will develop further with a few years of aging.
