Marc Tempe
Marc Tempé is the man par excellence when it comes to terroir.
Marc started about 25 years ago in the municipality of Zellenberg. He bought a centuries-old wine estate (built in the 18th century) against the foothills of the Vosges. In 1995 Tempé invested in large oak foeders, from small to almost 6000 litres. Marc likes tradition. He is also very clear when it comes to vinification. To put it in his own words: "Zéro trucage". Everything is done with minimal intervention and as few machines as possible. The only machine on the domain is the press. Some wines reach the market relatively late, for the simple reason that they ferment and mature in the foeders for more than 2 years. Use of sulphite is minimal, only before bottling some sulphite is added to protect the wine.
This domain is 100% biodynamic and belongs to the top of what Alsace has to offer us as a region.
