Gusbourne Single Vineyard Blanc de Blancs Commanders 2017
Regular price €95,70This top cuvée comes from a south-facing vineyard in Appledore, home to the famous Gusbourne Estate. The soil is rich in porous chalk with a little sand, fossils and shells. The grapes are picked entirely by hand in early October. After a slow pressing of 24 hours, only the best juice remains, followed by a 10-day fermentation at a temperature below 20 degrees. A small portion is matured in old oak barrels, which adds to the complexity.
With a maturation of 4 years 'sur lattes' this sparkling wine develops a deep and layered taste. The wine has a straw yellow color and an aromatic palette of granny smith, lime zest and freshly baked brioche. In the mouth you taste complex notes of grilled almonds, a light salty and mineral undertone, refined acidity and delicate bubbles. Serve in a burgundy glass to optimally enjoy the rich aromas and flavors. Cheers!
