Forstberg riesling belongs to the Grosse Lage wines, which can be compared with the French 'Grand Cru'. The vines are planted higher and harvesting is done with lower yields, which is reflected in the depth and concentration of this wine. The subsoil consists of calcareous loess and slate. The vineyards are located east of the old wine village of Leutesdorf and because of this the grapes hang longer before they are ripe. This results in wines with a lot of depth and complexity. In the nose we have scents of quince, zest of grapefruit and a floral undertone of lime trees. When you taste it, you immediately notice that this is the absolute best in the world when it comes to white wines. The taste buds are spoiled with ripe pear and apple, lime zest with a slightly grassy undertone. The finish is long and shows the perfect balance between complexity, minerality and elegant acidity. This wine is best served in a slender glass and is best opened in a wide carafe when it is young. Do not serve too cool. Pure joy to share!
