This Lirac is named after King Charles, the first. King of England, who married Marie-Henriette, sister of the French king, Louis XIII. He was a lover of wines from this region, hence the link. The vineyards are located on the right bank of the Rhône River, in the village of Saint-Geniès-de-Comolas. The bottom consists of sand and large boulders, called 'galets'. The grapes are picked manually, followed by fermentation and aging in concrete tanks. In this way, the fruit expression and the typical characteristics of the terroir are brought to the fore. On the nose we have the fragrant 'garrigues', ripe raspberry and a pepper note. When tasting we have a full attack with ripe blue fruit and eucalyptus with a spicy undertone that is nicely balanced.
